Basenji
The unusual, non-barking dog, Basenjis are small and elegant-looking with a beautiful, shiny coat that can be red, black and tan or even copper. They love to play, are energetic and affectionate and known to be very aware. Experts say the Basenji is a highly intelligent breed, easily trained and eager to please. They are good with older children and make a great pet although they can be somewhat aloof with strangers.
One thing to keep in mind about this breed, like many dogs, they like to chew. They are also excellent jumpers and can easily escape the confines of a backyard fence. Daily exercise and lots of attention are necessary to keep the Basenji happy and healthy.
