Ticks
Ticks are blood-sucking parasites that most of us pet owners have encountered at one time or another. Often times, pet owners become alarmed by the presence of a tick on their dog or cat because of its horrid appearance and the fact that ticks attach themselves to the animal and immediately begin sucking blood. As scary and disturbing as this sounds, controlling ticks and removing them from your pet is not an impossible task and if handled correctly, you can get rid of ticks on your pet and in your home and yard.

How to deal with ticks
If you find one tick, there is bound to be another…and another, you get the picture. The problem is that ticks lay thousands of eggs each time they feed and because the eggs are so tiny, you may not know that you have a tick problem before it becomes a problem. Ticks hang out on tall branches and shrubs waiting for a potential host to walk by, at which time they stretch out or climb on to attach themselves and begin feeding.
A great deterrent to ticks is to keep your lawn well-trimmed and free of branches and debris. There are many products available that can kill ticks including pesticides for your yard and home, spot-on treatments such as Frontline Plus and K-9 Advantix, sprays, powders and more. We did some research to find out all we could about ticks and what to do if you get them.
